Fresher security for G’s Fresh with an Expert upgrade! -

This was the first time that Expert Security had completed a project for G’s Fresh. Their main depot in Ely is their base for supplying all major UK retailers, as well as many European retailers with fresh, tasty and healthy produce.

Their mean needs from a security upgrade were securing the loading area from unauthorised vehicles and vulnerable pedestrians. After consulting closely with G’s Fresh, reviewing the multitude of options for the project, it was decided that the works would include two heavy duty security barriers with bottom hanging skirt. A solution of this nature creates a vehicle lock, and prohibits HGVs from entering into the loading bar area without authorisation from the transport office.

The barriers installed are controlled solely by push button units which maximises the safety of the system. Controlled access through features such as this also increases safety on site, by restricting unauthorised vehicles from driving into a potentially hazardous area where HGVs could be reversing.

The works also included a run of Armco untensioned safety corrugated fencing to a length of 200m. This is used widely installations such as roadside verges, slip roads and car parks, and is designed to protect areas from damage by passing vehicles. An additional design feature is smoothly re-directing traffic onto a course parallel with the barrier if vehicles begin to swerve or move out of the controlled area. Combined with signage and a designated pedestrian walkway, this system safely separates pedestrians and vehicles, creating a well-ordered and safe environment for all staff and visitors.
